Sandra is so happy that
she has a cool popular friend, but sometimes being cool means doing
wrong things, in which Sandra knows better. |
| I
had to go meet my newest friend, Ashley at the mall. We had planned this
at school and I told her I would meet her there at 4:00 PM. So
I went to the mall. When I
got there, Ashley was waiting for me by the fountain. “What
took you so long?” she asked. “I went to get ice cream with my
mom.” I told her. Mom
always takes me out for pizza or ice cream or to the arcade if I get an
A+ in any of my tests. Ashley
looked at me like it was really dumb to go somewhere with my mom. “Well,
want to go in that store?” Ashley asked me. She pointed over to a shoe store called Shoezies. “I
heard that they have nice shoes. So
we went to Shoezies. While
I was in the sandals section, Ashley walked up to me and said, “I
don’t see anything. Let’s go.” I have to go to the restroom anyway. While
in the restroom, Ashley gave me nice pair of tennis shoes. “Here,”
she said, “Put these on.” Uh oh. “Did you buy those?”
I asked
her. “Of course not!”
she said, “I just slipped them into my backpack.” She shoplifted!
I
couldn’t believe it. “Are
you crazy? That is against the law. You could get in big trouble for doing that,” I said. Ashley
laughed. “Sandra, it is not a bad thing. Everybody does it,” she said, “Besides, it isn’t a bad
thing unless you get caught.” I shook my head. “You know what?” I said, “I’m returning these shoes
and I hope you return the ones you took, because this is wrong. And I cant be your friend if you are going to continue
shoplifting.” Ashley rolled her eyes. “I
don’t need you,” she said, “I have other friends and you are a
dork that I decided to be nice too. I
thought you were cooler than this. I
guess I was wrong.” Ashley scowled at me and then she walked out of
the bathroom. I went back
to the shoe store and I told the manager what happened and that I had no
idea that my friend was shoplifting. The
man was really nice about it and he said that he was happy that I
brought back my pair of shoes. After
that, I went home and I saw my dad waiting up for me. I
told him what happened with the shoplifting and he told me,“You did
the right thing. I’m very
proud of you.” |
